St Agnes (NDIS)

Project Summary

When our clients reached out to us to renovate their bathroom in St Agnes, they were looking for a solution that balanced accessibility and style. The space needed to meet NDIS-compliance standards for a family member with mobility challenges while creating a bright, modern, and welcoming environment.

The project came with its own challenges—the previous design lacked functionality, and the family required a layout that would prioritise accessibility without compromising aesthetics. With these goals in mind, we worked closely with the clients to craft a bathroom that empowers its users while maintaining a contemporary and inviting look.

Project budget: $25,000

  • Barrier-Free Bathroom

  • Sturdy Stainless Steel Grab Rail

  • Non-Slip Dark Grey Tiles

  • Wheelchair-Accessible Vanity and Shower

A Space Designed for Accessibility

The clients needed a bathroom that was easy to navigate for wheelchair users and those with mobility aids. To meet these needs, we created a wide, walk-in shower with no barriers, ensuring safe and seamless access. A sturdy stainless steel grab rail along the wall provides stability and peace of mind, while a hand-held shower head offers flexibility for users with varying levels of mobility.

To keep the shower area clutter-free, we included a recessed shower shelf positioned at an optimal height, ensuring toiletries are easily accessible without the need for bending or stretching.

Function Meets Style

The bathroom’s design was carefully planned to marry functionality with elegance. Non-slip dark grey floor tiles provide excellent traction while adding a sleek, modern touch. These contrast beautifully with crisp white walls, creating a high-contrast design that aids individuals with visual impairments.

The vanity was custom-designed to accommodate wheelchair users, featuring an optimal height and ample clearance underneath for manoeuvrability. The wide countertop and easy-to-grasp cabinetry handles were chosen to enhance practicality, making the space both user-friendly and sophisticated.

Bright and Inviting

To create a light-filled and uplifting space, we installed a frosted window that floods the bathroom with natural light while maintaining privacy. A mesh screen adds ventilation and security, while the addition of greenery brings warmth and vibrancy to the neutral tones of the design.

An Empowering and Stylish Bathroom

This St Agnes bathroom exemplifies how accessibility and aesthetics can work together seamlessly. From the barrier-free shower to the user-friendly vanity, every element of this NDIS-compliant space was thoughtfully designed to ensure safety, functionality, and style.

The clients were thrilled with the final result—a bathroom that meets their family’s specific needs while offering a modern and inviting atmosphere. It’s a space that not only empowers but also elevates everyday routines, making it a testament to the power of thoughtful, client-focused design.
